Veterans Place moves locations, continues to answer the call of the community

Jul. 4—The Veterans Place held their grand opening at their new location at 300 Vernon Street in New Llano on June 25.

Quentin Murray, who retired from the U.S. Army after nearly 25 years of service, says the inspiration for the Veteran's Place came from his wife, Jacqueline. According to him, she, at one point said, "We need to find something for you Veterans. We need to do better for you guys."

"We wanted to give veterans a place to go and be themselves and be heard. A place to help them navigate the post military experience. A place where they can go and sit down with a cup of coffee and reminisce with old buddies." stated Quentin.

Whether it's to enjoy a meal or conversation in good company, Veteran's Place in Leesville is exactly what the name suggests.

All proceeds are used to help veterans and other members of our community who are in need.

"We are exceptionally well connected in the Central Louisiana community and are able to provide referrals to support a multitude of issues and situations. We are able to assist veterans locate living wage employment; obtain affordable short term and long term housing; obtain financial, legal and medical assistance; navigate the Veterans Affairs (VA) system or overcome any of a myriad of other issues that life presents — We can help! We can assist all Veterans independent of discharge, service history or current living location. All we ask is that you can confirm you are a Veteran and you are committed to work with us and our service providers to resolve your issues. Once we receive your commitment, we will work until all of your needs and issues are satisfied." stated Veterans Place.

"There is not a charge for our referral services and most of our service providers offer free or reduced charges for their services. We qualify all of our service providers to ensure they are respectful and offer high quality services for our Veterans and their families." stated Veterans Place.

It's a place where Veterans can come let their hair down, be themselves and be heard.

Volunteers from the VA and other organizations are available throughout the week to help with benefits and health claims at no charge.

The Veterans Place is a nonprofit organization that supports Veterans and their families to locate benefits and services required to establish productive lifestyles.

"Not only do we provide a place where our veterans and community can come and have someone to help with a lending hand or ear, we also provide you with a place to get some good home cooked country style food. Stella's became part of the Veterans Place in March of 2019 and is growing every day." stated Veterans Place

On the non-profit side is a lounge area where lunch can be purchased or given to veterans in need.

On the retail side, you can shop a variety of military memorabilia along with Mrs. Murray's collection of essential oils and herbal teas.

The Veterans Place was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in June 2014. And are dedicated to helping Veterans and their families receive assistance to enable them to be successful members of their communities.
