Beckley VA to host event for women veterans

April 08-- Apr. 8--In an effort to reach more female veterans, the Beckley VA Medical Center is hosting an event called "You've Earned It!"

The event, slated for Friday, April 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Beckley VAMC Auditorium, invites women veterans and their friends and family to learn more about the benefits and services available to them.

At the event, veterans can learn more about a variety of programs and services:

l VA health care enrollment;

l Beckley VAMC Women's Health Program;

l military sexual trauma;

l suicide prevention;

l homeless team;

l Whole Health Program;

l women's health care from community partners; and

l Veterans Benefits Administration, which includes compensation and pension, education, VA home loans and more.

The U.S. Women Veterans Advocacy Initiative, a national nonprofit, will be present to provide information, the release said. The nonprofit's mission is to be a voice, resource and connection for all women veterans who have served, or are serving, in any branch of the U.S military concerning benefits, education, employment, networking and quality of life.

Attendees are encouraged to connect with one another by sharing stories and socializing. All are invited to enjoy appetizers and refreshments.

Volunteers from I Heart Church will be providing self-care pampering, including mini massages and manicures, the release said, and a special women's World War II collection, including era uniforms and memorabilia from Ray DeVoe, will be on display.
