It will be held at Yakama Nation's Veteran Affairs building, 480 Buster Road. A flag-raising is set for 9 a.m., with the event starting at 10 a.m. A salmon luncheon will be served at noon.

The event will highlight World War II veteran Virginia Beavert, who assisted in the war effort for four years with the Army Air Forces, according to a profile on Central Washington University's website.

Beavert earned a bachelor of science degree in anthropology from Central in 1986. She received Central's Distinguished Alumna -- College of Sciences Award in 2007.

Her stepfather, Alexander Saluskin, or Chief Wi-ya-wikt, citing his poor health, in the 1970s encouraged her to return to school to help him complete his life's work, The Sahaptin Practical Dictionary for Yakama, the Central profile notes.

She completed her stepfather's dictionary and published two more, along with a book of Yakama legends.
