Vaya Health placing kiosk at library for mental health check

The Tryon Daily Bulletin - 7/27/2017

COLUMBUS ? Vaya Health is sponsoring a MindKare kiosk at the Polk County Public Library in Columbus for residents to screen themselves for mental health.

The kiosk unveiling is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 10 a.m. at the library, located at 1289 West Mills Street, Columbus.

The Polk County Board of Commissioners met July 17 and heard from county manager Marche Pittman about the kiosk. Pittman said Vaya Health is trying to help people with mental health screenings, much like a blood pressure kiosk that residents can find at a pharmacy.

"The MindKare kiosk, a program of screening for mental health, offers a quick, anonymous screening assessment for treatable conditions like depression and anxiety, as well as information about treatment resources in the area," states a brochure for the unveiling. "It makes checking in on your mental health as easy as checking your blood pressure."

Pittman said the kiosk will be a screening test that will also give the participant a phone number to call Vaya Health if needed.
